Manual Connections

Create Copper Pairs

  1. From the Modify/Delete section of the Copper Tab select the Connections Manual command.
  2. Select a splice enclosure connected with more than one cable. The Select Segment dialog box opens:

    Note: If only two cables are connected to the splice enclosure, Select Segment window is not required. If only one cable is connected to the splice enclosure, the connection command is not activated.
  3. Click Next or Accept to highlight the correct segment. After the two segments have been highlighted the Copper Pair Connections dialog opens:

    The dialog box is divided in three parts: The left portion shows the pairs in the cable highlighted in red on the map. The right portion shows the pairs in the cable highlighted in green on the map. The middle portion displays the pair range connection.

  4. Select the Combine Continuous Pair Ranges check box to combine continuous pair ranges together.
  5. Select the pair range from both sheaths in the left and right part of the Copper Pair Connection dialog box. The Connect Splice and Connect No Splice button become available.
    Note: Connect No Splice refers to a pass thru or continuous pair.
  6. Click on the Connect Splice or Connect No Splice button to display the Pair Connection Info dialog:

  7. Enter the number of pairs, the pair range on the left sheath and the pair range on the right sheath to splice together. Click OK to create the splice:

  8. The pair spliced is displayed in the middle part of the dialog box and removed from the right portion of the dialog box. The buttons are unavailable for Connect Splice and Connect No Splice.
  9. Select the Close button to exit the command.

Disconnect Copper Pairs

  1. Select the pair range from the middle of the dialog box. The Disconnect button becomes available.
  2. Click on the Disconnect button. The connected pair range is removed from the middle part of the dialog box, and the available copper range is added back into the left and right portion of the dialog box.
  3. Select the Close button to exit the command.

Connect More Than Two Pairs Together (BridgeTap)

  1. Select the pair range from the first two sheaths and click Connect Splice or Connect No Splice to connect them together.
  2. Click Prev or Next to choose a third copper sheath.
  3. Select the pair range of the first sheath and third sheath and click Connect Splice or Connect No Splice to connect them together.
  4. Select the Close button to exit the command.
